Picnic by the Vienna Symphony Orchestra

26.6.2025 - 27.6.2025
Kaiserwiese

This year, once again, the Vienna Symphony Orchestra will accompany the people of Vienna into the summer holidays. The open-air concert at the Prater Picnic in front of the iconic Giant Ferris Wheel has long since become a beloved tradition: a lively program, good vibes, and music for everyone!

This year, the Vienna Symphony’s chief conductor, Petr Popelka, invites the audience on a musical journey from Vienna across the Atlantic. Starting with the celebrated Johann Strauss II and his operetta Die Fledermaus, and the playful sounds of The Flying Schnörtzenbrekkers by Vienna’s double bass original Georg Breinschmid, the program leads to Austrian singer-songwriter Lemo, who will thrill the audience with his hits Der Himmel über Wien, Alte Seele, and Schwarze Wolken.

Across the Atlantic, the journey continues with renowned singer Thomas Quasthoff performing global hits by Cy Coleman, Ervin Drake, and Cole Porter, while soprano Alina Wunderlin enchants with Bernstein’s Glitter and Be Gay.

With the Prater Picnic, the Vienna Symphony celebrates the start of the school holidays together with families in Vienna — and it also marks the opening concert of Kultursommer Wien. The participation of The Flying Schnörtzenbrekkers is made possible by Johann Strauss 2025.
