Picnic by the Vienna Symphony Orchestra

1.7.2026 - 2.7.2026
Kaiserwiese

An Open-Air Event for All of Vienna! This year once again, the Vienna Symphony Orchestra will kick off the summer holidays with their open-air concert in the Prater. On the Kaiserwiese, audiences can look forward to a colorful program of classical music, pop, and jazz for the whole family.

For the fifth edition of the Prater Picnic, Holly Hyun Choe will take the conductor’s podium, inviting listeners to enjoy, among other highlights, the delicately plucked strings of Leroy Anderson’s Plink, Plank, Plunk! and the majestic finale of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 4.

Guest performers will include Austrian soprano Ilia Staple and tenor Rolando Villazón, performing selections from Gaetano Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore, Jeanine Tesori’s The Girl in 14G, and Nino Rota’s love theme from the film La Strada.

Pop vocals will be provided by Austrian singer-songwriter Teya (Teodora Špirić), who will perform her songs Talk That Talk, To-Do List, Waxing Salon, and Girls like Girls. The musical summer evening will also feature beloved melodies from Leonard Bernstein’s West Side Story and Frederick Loewe’s My Fair Lady.

With the Prater Picnic, the Vienna Symphony Orchestra celebrates the beginning of summer and the opening of Vienna’s cultural summer together with families across the city.
